Bord Na Mona Accelerate Green Conference June 0123

2 min

Trimfold Envelopes was delighted to attend the Bord Na Mona Accelerate Green Conference, held on 1st June at the Tullamore Court Hotel. It was an inspiring day with keynote speeches and panel discussions with an impressive lineup of guest speakers, all leaders in their fields and committed to climate solutions from all corners of business in Ireland. The overall theme of the day was that improving the sustainability outcomes of your business is not only good for the planet but is also good for your business. There was much talk of the extra requirement for reporting on all sustainability credentials as part of the CSRD reporting changes brought in by the EU in November 2022 and effective from January 2024, which applies to large corporates and government bodies, and the companies in their supply chain, something we are very aware of in our business.

It was great to part of the day, and as Ireland's largest envelope manufacturer we take our sustainability credentials very seriously. Based here in our home town of Trim, Co Meath since 1971, we make and print hundreds of millions of envelopes of all shapes and sizes every year. We are an ISO, PEFC and FSC certified envelope manufacturer, we only use sustainably sourced papers, our manilla paper is made from 100% recycled post consumer waste, our window film is biodegradable and all our inks and glues are waterbased. We also have a selection of other mail items including boxes, padded bags, which we can print, and copier paper and we will shortly be adding an Irish made range of packaging shred available in a wide variety of colours. For our customer packaging, we use an Irish made recyclable pallet wrap and our cardboard angled edges are made here in Trim by a company located next door to us.

We are committed to continuous improvement in the sustainability credentials of the envelopes we manufacture, and look forward to being part of the national conversation on sustainability for ourselves and our customers.  As the only Irish envelope manufacturer of our scale, we can provide envelopes to customers at a lower carbon cost than those imported from outside Ireland. We look forward to working with our customers in the weeks and months ahead, making sustainabiliaty a key part of the buying decision for our trade customers and consumers alike.
