PaperIndustry Update

As we finally see some light at the end of the Covid pandemic tunnel, there are many other challenges facing the European paper industry. While paper mills continue to struggle with the combination of increasing
energy costs, logistics and supply of raw materials, we have been hit by a blizzard of price increase notifications effective Q1 from our suppliers throughout the industry, this on top of three such increases in 2021. We are experiencing unprecedented times, with the European paper mills hit by massive increases in manufacturing costs at the same time as a huge surge in demand for paper products.
In addition to the supply chain problems caused by the Covid pandemic, there is also major disruption to the available European paper stock caused by the closure of the Stora Enso paper mills and ongoing strike action at
the UPM paper mills in Finland, which is likely to continue for the forseeable future. Sadly the horrific war being waged in Ukraine by Russia is only likely to add further pressure to the supply lines in the European paper industry.
At the moment there is no end in sight to the challenges facing our industry, but please be assured that we are in continuous negotiation with our suppliers to minimise the inevitable price increases and we will in turn do our best to keep the impact of these raw material costs to a minimum, but it is inevitable that we will have to pass on some of the cost increases to our own products. As manufacturers we have some opportunities for savings, however there is only so much of the raw material increases that we can absorb ourselves.

"WE ARE EXPERIENCING UNPRECEDENTED TIMES, WITH THE EUROPEAN PAPER MILLS HIT BY MASSIVE INCREASES IN MANUFACTURING COSTS AT THE SAME TIME AS A HUGE SURGE IN DEMAND FOR PAPER PRODUCTS".

We regret this situation and would like to thank you for your patience and understanding and we will continue to keep you updated on all key developments and the effect on our product prices.
Thank you for your continued loyalty and support and please contact our Sales Team with any questions or concerns you have for specific products or services.
